Hungarian Open Air Museum is the second partner to organise a series of workshops in Szentendre, from Thursday 25 May to Sunday 28 May 2023.
The workshops are free and open to the public, but registration is required. Everyone involved with dance, intangible cultural heritage and/or museums is welcome to join one or more workshop.

Dance house method in the practice. The main goal of the pedagogical program is to introduce Hungarian folk game and folk dance to children through experiential movement learning.
The users and students of the method learn the elements of traditional folk plays and dance, their form, places where they used to be carried out, and functions through empirical experiences.

On this day we will discuss several topics related to the dance house method. We will look at how traditional dances are transmitted around the world and how the Hungarian model is/can be presented.
In the afternoon session, representatives of Hungarian dance communities and NGOs will share their experiences, the possibilities and possible dangers of (self)representation.

Day 4: Sunday 28 May 2023
Whitsun Heritage Festival – An international gathering of ICH
On the Sunday and Monday of Pentecost, a parade of the communities of the National Inventory of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hungary took place. The event is an extraordinary occasion for visitors to see traditional communities from all over Hungary gathered. Visitors not only had the chance to watch stage performances but could also directly meet the communities who are caring for their heritage, could create objects with their own hands at the pottery and with egg painters, dance with folk dancers, and as well as taste traditional food. The communities welcomed everyone by offering a whole day of craft activities, presentations, and exhibitions.
