CEMPER’s contribution to the consortium
CEMPER is our project partner in Belgium. This institution will not be conducting a case study in this project. We asked them some questions about their goals, thoughts and contribution towards our Creative Europe project.
CEMPER is the Centre for Music and Performing Arts Heritage in Flanders (Belgium). We take on an advisory role in this consortium by sharing our expertise on safeguarding intangible heritage. To do so, we draw on our experience of working with heritage communities to help safeguard, inventory, document, and research their music and performing arts practices. Throughout this project, we are eager to learn from our project partners about the various ways in which the UNESCO 2003 Convention is implemented across Europe. We are inspired about the ways in which various heritage and academic institutions can help heritage communities, especially in a museum context. The project offers us the opportunity to expand our network, not only internationally, but also locally amongst the versatile dance communities in Flanders. It enables us to reach out to new target audiences, by exploring the possibilities of facilitating collaborations between museums and dancers.
